Come January 9 year 2012 Malaysian shall know the fate of current Opposition Leader. Never before in Malaysia an opposition leader garners so much support like Anwar did. His PKR party captured Selangor in 2008 General election, the most advanced state in Malaysia. The consequence? Malaysian government seems so willing to do all they can to retake Selangor back.
I remember those days when opposition leader was Lim Kit Siang. In those days, an opposition leader is really like a bad guy from a film, really. They paint a picture like that on media. I was a kid back then without a clue about politic. Just a mere mention of the name Lim Kit Siang produces fears. I don't know why. As if Lim sole purpose in life is to destroy Malaysia, nothing less.
But now Lim produced a Lim Guan Eng the chief Minister of Penang. Another state in Malaysia captured by opposition party. All in all, 4 states are now under opposition. Kelantan and Kedah under PAS. Selangor with PKR. Penang with DAP. Even Perak is under opposition initially but a power play there see a new BN government now took power.
So what will happen on Jan 9? The Malaysian court shall gives a verdict whether Anwar is guilty or not of sodomizing his former assistant Saiful Bukhari. The outcome of the verdict is so important to Malaysian politic that I believe even the whole world of journalism is waiting with a bated breath on the outcome of the verdict.
As a simple Malaysian citizen, I am waiting with nervous, just like Anwar himself. What is your verdict?
